It’s TUESDAY Again! Taco Menu For Cumming Tap!

Taco Lovers,

It is again that day, the day on which all places taco near and far have some kind of CRAZY taco action to tell you about.  It’s Taco Tuesday. wee.  It’s not only Taco Tuesday, but also…

TACOPOCALYPSE CUMMING TAP TUESDAY!!!!

THIS day is extra special within the realm of our tacos, because of our unique brand of food stuff and our lovely location right along the Great Western Trail in Cumming, Iowa.  You will not find a better taco in this state, or most of the surrounding area, especially not in a tiny town like Cumming (I am not just saying this because I am the one who produces said tacos, this is a conglomeration of feedback from taco lovers like you).  AND WE ALSO HAVE $2.50 DRAFTS OF NEW BELGIUM BREWING FAT TIRE BEER. WHAT WHAT? Yep.

Tonight’s Menu:

  • Braised Pork
  • Korean Chicken
  • Bacon Chorizo
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Sweet Potato and Parsnip – this is our new flavor which made its debut one week ago and has gone on to be a huge hit! It even elicited at least one marriage proposal for your not so humble chef here.

That is what is going down tonight.  We will be serving from 4 until 10pm, due to a few promised late comers and folks riding out after Cyclocross practice.  Take advantage of another beautiful day to ride, imbibe, and take down a few tacos.

ON THIS, THE SACRED DAY OF TACOS, TACOPOCALYPSE CUMMING TAP TUESDAY!

two notes: 1. We are also open at Bombay Bicycle Club tonight serving our full menu. 2. Tacopocalypse/Cumming Tap Tuesday will go on for the entire year, all fall, all winter. Stay tuned here for any information on closings, etc.  We will be open every Tuesday, weather permitting.

It’s A Farmer’s Market Menu-athalon

The HyVee Triathalon is happening this weekend, on Sunday to be exact.  We are celebrating by doing this whole taco thing this week in the name of running, swimming, and (mostly) biking. I have a good personal friend, world famous Ironman Triathlete Kale Halder, who swears by our tacos for his training and recovery meals while on the pain train (aka training for Ironman and/or road racing).  If Kale Halder performs better with the help of Tacopocalypse, so can you…or you could be an even better spectator!

This guy trains with Tacopocalypse. Fact.

(Kale Halder’s image, name, and skewed quote used completely without permission, but Kale, ir you see this, I will hook you up with a few free tacos…yeah?)

menu Menu MENU!

  • BRAISED PORK
  • BACON CHORIZO
  • KOREAN CHICKEN
  • WASABI BRISKET
  • VEGAN CHORIZO
  • POBALAMMMMO POTATO!

WE HAVE TACOS, BREAKFAST THINGS, SIDES OF POBLAMMMO POTATOES, AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF LOVE FOR ATHLETES WHO PUSH THEMSELVES TO THE LIMIT AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE TO WATCH AND SUPPORT THEM.  THIS YEAR IN PREPARATION FOR THE HY VEE TRI, COME DOWN TO 2ND AND COURT AVE FOR SOME KALE HALDER APPROVED TRIATHLON GRUBBING.   7 AM TO NOON.

SEE YOU THEN.

TUESDAY TACO MENU THING

Taco Lovers,

Tonight is going to be an amazing night for riding out to the Cumming Tap for some drinks and tacos and stuff.  The temperature will be optimal, the air crisp and clear, and the tacos…well, you know how they will be.

This is what I THINK (I am pretty sure this menu is correct) we will have tonight, as I have been busy and left Tuesday Things up to trusty assistant to the assistant manager, GP (who, according to FB, set a new record of 350 tortillas made in one hour. I am impressed)

“No Shirts, No Shoes, NOOOOO DICE?”

A MENU IN THE SAME SIZE FONT AS THE REST OF THE WORDS

  • bRAISED Pork – yum
  • Vegan Chorizo – also yum. (if you order a pork and a chorizo it is called a “CLASSIC COMBO”)
  • Beef Cheek – Cumin rubbed and slow cooked in Agave Wheat beer, we have some really tender cheek…
  • Bacon Chorizo – Mexican Sausage made with only bacon.
  • Potato Poblano – Spicy slaw, roasted potatoes, fried onions and poblano peppers, adobo crema. Yes.
  • Korean Chicken – thinly sliced (well, it’s supposed to be thinly sliced) chicken breast marinated in a soy and gochuchang mixture.

WE WILL ALSO BE FEATURING SIDES OF POBLANO POTATOES FOR $2 AGAIN THIS WEEK.

With that said, we look forward to seeing you look forward to eating tacos.

WE ALSO SERVE OUR FULL MENU AT BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT FROM 5 UNTIL 11. IF YOU AREN’T INTO RIDING OUT TO CUMMING BUT WANT SOME OF OUR FOOD THINGS, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO.

Super Patriotic July 3rd Tacopocalypse Tuesday Insanity

Tomorrow night is July Fourth Eve, which will most likely go down in history as one of 2012’s most exciting and completely awesomest/rad to the extreme holiday for partaking in Tacos and Refreshments and a bike ride to the Cumming Tap.  Okay, here’s the situation:

It’s a Tuesday night, you don’t have to work on Wednesday.  Why?  Because it’s the celebration of the birth of our nation, and nothing says America like sitting around eating a bunch of food and sharing libations with your fellow inhabitants of this country while recovering from a crazy Tuesday night of bike riding, tacos, and whatever else you can gather into your corner during your stay at the Cumming Tap and the ride on the Great Western Trail (you know, they don’t call it great for nothing).

What will you be eating?  Let us reveal the super not secret menu….

  • Braised Pork
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Korean Chicken
  • Bacon Chorizo
  • Potato Poblano
  • Beef Cheek

There may be some other surprises, not quite sure yet.  We are fairly ahead of the game today and may have some extra time to pack some fun stuff along tomorrow.  We ARE bringing enough taco supplies for over 1,000 tacos.  If we sell out of all of this stuff… I think the taco staff will need a raise.

We all look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, come celebrate our Nation’s Birthday, and if you stay late enough I will be riding back to town by bicycle…come ride with me…

Tacopocalypse In Metromix/Juice…

Look for us in this week’s Juice and online at Metromix where Erin Randolph reviews our first ever night at the Bombay Bicycle Club.  It was a fun night of live music and a “sneak preview” of what we have going on, and also an exercise in something which I can’t remember…but…

So…we were selected for the 2 for $20 series (totally appropriate), it seems that Erin and her dining guests enjoyed themselves.  We aren’t totally surprised, the atmosphere here is pretty conducive to having both tacos and a good time.  The only minor issue was the expected spice level of our Wasabi Crema, which was not as “bitey” as umm…expected.  This brought up quite a debate about our spice levels in the T’lypse Kitchen today, AND WE DEVISED A SOLUTION PLAN THING!!!!!

(Before we go any further I would like to say I am in no way making fun of or attempting to antagonize anyone involved in said party, only pointing out a solution to a problem which we have encountered like two times)

If you would like your Wasabi Brisket to really KICK YOUR SPICE PANTS, then ask us (or your server) and we will give you a small amount of Wasabi Paste along with your tacos and you can up the spice as high as you want/can take it.  Just ask for EXTRA WASABI! (I am seriously serious here, this is not in any way being smarty pantsy) We would love to see the more adventurous of you get down with more Wasabi than you really need.

I was looking for a good wasabi picture and somehow this shirt came up. So this is what you get. TREX SAYS “MORE WASABI, PLEASE!” “AND NO MORE PUSH-UPS”

I would also like to point out that our beloved Bacon Chorizo is not just TWO MEATS COMBINED, but it is actually made of only bacon and spiced with my own Chorizo Spice blend.  So it is at once two meat concepts combined but one singular meat.  I am sure that I just read the sentence wrong, but I wanted to clarify as there are a few placed that make “Bacon Chorizo” but there is only one TACOPOCALYPSE BACON CHORIZO, which is a far superior product. At least we (and hundreds of others) like to think so.

So, yeah…read Ms. Randoph’s article then come see us.  We have a lot more going on than just tacos now.  You should probably try it out now before this place becomes another place you have to wait in long arduous lines to receive your Tacpocafix.

8410 Hickman, Clive.  Monday Through Saturday 5 to 11 pm, with a special FRIDAY LUNCH starting at 11 am EVERY FRIDAY. There are a few things on the lunch menu that you can only get on Fridays, which you should try sometime…like this Friday…

CUMMING TOMORROW. THE MENU-ING

TOMORROW…WAIT…Tomorrow, Taco Lovers, will be our official kick off of BEING IN TWO PLACES AT ONE TIME. We will be serving at the Bombay Bicycle Club from 5 to 11, and we will also be (duh, of course) at the Cumming Tap from 3 until 10, or whenever you Taco Animals clean us out of goodies.  Which was pretty fast and furious the last two weeks (we are bringing more stuff this time, but I am almost certain that won’t make a difference).

CUMMING TAP MENU FOR TUESDAY:

  • Braised Pork
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Wasabi Brisket
  • Korean Chicken
  • Beef Cheek
  • Chorizo Verde
  • Whatever runs out first will be replaced with Potato Poblano

We may have one or two other “replacer” tacos flavors for when things start running out.

The Bombay menu includes some bitchin nachos, Thai Shrimp Ceviche, and a load of taco flavors including our new Seared Ahi Tuna w/Wasabi and spicy slaw topped with toasted sesame seeds. There will be a soup which will most likely be our Sopa Verde (it’s a green soup. go figure).

SO, you have two opportunities to get your mouths around our tacos tomorrow night.  Either choice is wise…

“It’s Taco Tuesday somewhere…”

Today Is The Big Day!

Well, Taco Lovers, the day has finally arrived.  We here at the Tacopocalypse HQ were just reminiscing about the old days when we were just doing this to have fun and didn’t think it would ever really amount to anything.  There was just a great desire to ride our bikes, serve some great tacos, and ride our bikes some more.  We thought things like “maybe someday we will have a taco truck or a food cart somewhere.”  We were (sort of) dreamers. The kind that Ronnie James Dio sang about, but without all that dragon stuff.  Not that we don’t like dragon stuff. um…

We are no longer the same sort of dreamers.  We bypassed what we had wished for in the beginning and went straight to having a “brick and mortar” spot to serve our Almost-Famous tacos.  We have an actual kitchen with a real line with actual stations and the ability to do whatever we want with the menu (except stop making tacos).  This is far beyond the original plan.  Way beyond.  Like real job kinda beyond.  And we are breaking records every week at the Downtown Farmers Market and Cumming Tap.  And from the sounds of things, we are doing a good enough job to keep you all coming back to see what else we can do. I love it. You won’t find many folks smiling at the end of 18 hours of kitchen work, but that’s the pot of gold you will find on my face at the end of  my rainbow of a work day.

Why am I smiling?  Because at the end of every long day I know that my efforts and the efforts of my team are making other people happy.  When it comes down to it we aren’t in it for the money or the recognition, we are in this to make people happy and to have a good time while doing so.

so far so good.

I guess this is the part where I tell you that I look forward to seeing you all at our mobile spots, but take a trip out to Clive to our new digs at the Bombay Bicycle Club and check out what I have been working on for your mouths. (it might be the only rock  bar in the midwest where you can get Ceviche) There are a lot of new things going on out here, and we are constantly evolving…which is why our first two menus were just written on the backs of old show posters.  Printing menus seems to final and not very fun at all.  I will be posting a new page here on Tacopocalypse.com specifically for the BBC menu, but will be blogging about what special things we have going on as they roll out of our kitchen.

Where is this place?  8410 Hickman Avenue in Clive.  Live music, great beer selection (they even sell my favorite beer, 40’s of Old English 800), and a top notch chef-driven menu of Latin and Asian foods.  And Tacos.  You seem to love what we have going on everywhere else, take it to the next level.  BUT WE DON’T WANT YOU TO PUT A RING ON IT JUST YET.

TUESDAY TACOPOCALYPSE CUMMING TAP MENU

Taco Lovers!  It’s a beautiful day and looking even better for TACOPOCALYPSE TUESDAY at the CUMMING TAP.  It’s going to be a great big ball of awesome topped off with some good friends, cold drinks, and some of the best tacos in the…well, pretty much anywhere you go.  It’s the truth, no reason for us to be coy.

We have been working diligently on our new kitchen (Project Bullhorn) and have aquired some new equipment to make mass production of your favorite tacos much easier.  What does this mean for you, the taco lover?  It means no more running out of tacos early, it means no more “backup” tortillas (I will post a video of our new tortilla system, which I am very excited about), it means a more consistent experience for you.  I am really happy about this, you probably don’t know what it is like to literally lose sleep worrying about feeding people tacos.

OH, YOU ARE PROBABLY WANTING TO JUST SEE THE MENU INSTEAD OF READING MY RAMBLING ABOUT THINGS.

Menu For 5/22

  • Braised Pork
  • Wasabi Brisket
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Bacon Chorizo

There you have it, the selections are legit.  You will love. Tomorrow at the Cumming Tap from 3 pm to 10pm!

Gettin Rad In Madrid!

Tonight we will be returning to Madrid after a short weather related hiatus.  It looks like the call for gloom and doom tonight may, once again, a figment of our weather guessers’ imaginations and that things should be all clear for a ride (or drive) up to the Flat Tire Lounge for some taco love and $7 pitchers of New Belgium Brewing Fat Tire.  Tonight we will have what has become the four staples: Braised Pork, Vegan Chorizo, Bacon Chorizo, and Korean Chicken (which has become wildly popular).  Tacos start at 3 and go to 10 (or if and when we run out, which shouldn’t be a problem).  Come get Rad with us tonight.
