Nuthin But A (Friday Lunch) Gangsta Party
There is only one place in town that you can get Tacopocalypse for lunch, order a 40 oz Old English 800, and chill on a patio for the afternoon. Yes, that place is the Bombay Bicycle Club out in Clive. That is where we are, six days a week…and on Fridays it is a lunch party. How much of a party is it? That depends on how much of a party you want to make of it. You could take a half day, load up on lunch specials, and then drink $1 domestic draft beers all afternoon while the rest of your co-workers are sitting at work thinking about how much MORE fun it would be to be anywhere else than work. Or you could bring your whole office and make it a “work meeting” and still get your swag on.
At eleven in the morning every Friday we throw open the doors and serve our entire menu AND an additional lunch special menu. What does this entail?
- Taco Salad. I know, that sounds like a really boring thing…taco blah salad. NOT HERE. OUR TACO SALAD IS DESERVING OF BEING DESCRIBED IN ALL CAPITOL LETTERS! WE START WITH A FRESHLY FRIED SALAD SHELL, THEN ADD A BASE OF OUR REFRIED BEANS, THEN A GRIP OF FRESH FIELD GREENS TOSSED IN A RASPBERRY BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE, SOME OTHER FRESH VEGETABLES LIKE PEPPERS AND GRAPE TOMATOES AND RED ONIONS AND THINGS, THEN THERE IS A LITTLE COTIJA CHEESE. YOU THEN HAVE A CHOICE OF KOREAN CHICKEN, BRAISED PORK, OR (FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST) SEARED AHI TUNA. IT GETS A SIDE OF SOME KIND OF SAUCE, AND IT IS PDG.
-Lunch Burrito Special - Every week we feature a different burrito as a special and this week it is the Banh Mi burrito. Inspired by my favorite sandwich, the Vietnamese Banh Mi, it is a large flour tortilla stuffed with our Lemongrass Pork, pickled Daikon radish and Carrot, fresh cilantro, spicy mayo, and greens. I just had one to try things out. Pretty legit.
-Soup - Our special soup for this week is Pozole, a Mexican Hominy and Pork stew.
That is what we have going on for lunch tomorrow, we serve from 11 am to 4pm, Dinner starts at 4pm and goes until 10pm.
Come treat yourself for lunch this week.
