Giving Thanks

Today, on this “Tacosgiving Eve,” I give thanks for all of you who have made this little taco thing into what it is today. A few years back it all started as a “one off” taco night at the Cumming Tap with with Vegan Chorizo, Braised Pork, curtido, red and green salsa, pickled jalapeños, and hand pressed corn tortillas, and just enough people showed up to try it out that we decided to do it again. And again. We have gone from very humble beginnings to the Downtown Farmers Market, Des Moines, then to the Historic East Village as a brick and mortar restaurant. We moved from Des Moines St to our current location on East 5th, then made it on to Food Network’s “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives” for some pretty regular rotation, in addition to some other high profile awards and publications. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for all of you who have shown up and supported through the years, everyone who took a turn at slinging tacos, and especially all of you who have believed in and stuck by me throughout the ups and downs over the years. It’s been a tough journey, but Tacopocalypse is proof that you can go far with almost nothing, it just takes an idea, timing, dedication, skill, great friends, and a little luck.

Thank you, everyone. Have a safe holiday, and remind those around you that they are important.
