It’s A Farmer’s Market Menu-athalon

The HyVee Triathalon is happening this weekend, on Sunday to be exact.  We are celebrating by doing this whole taco thing this week in the name of running, swimming, and (mostly) biking. I have a good personal friend, world famous Ironman Triathlete Kale Halder, who swears by our tacos for his training and recovery meals while on the pain train (aka training for Ironman and/or road racing).  If Kale Halder performs better with the help of Tacopocalypse, so can you…or you could be an even better spectator!

This guy trains with Tacopocalypse. Fact.

(Kale Halder’s image, name, and skewed quote used completely without permission, but Kale, ir you see this, I will hook you up with a few free tacos…yeah?)

Super Patriotic July 3rd Tacopocalypse Tuesday Insanity

Tomorrow night is July Fourth Eve, which will most likely go down in history as one of 2012’s most exciting and completely awesomest/rad to the extreme holiday for partaking in Tacos and Refreshments and a bike ride to the Cumming Tap.  Okay, here’s the situation:

It’s a Tuesday night, you don’t have to work on Wednesday.  Why?  Because it’s the celebration of the birth of our nation, and nothing says America like sitting around eating a bunch of food and sharing libations with your fellow inhabitants of this country while recovering from a crazy Tuesday night of bike riding, tacos, and whatever else you can gather into your corner during your stay at the Cumming Tap and the ride on the Great Western Trail (you know, they don’t call it great for nothing).

What will you be eating?  Let us reveal the super not secret menu….

  • Braised Pork
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Korean Chicken
  • Bacon Chorizo
  • Potato Poblano
  • Beef Cheek

There may be some other surprises, not quite sure yet.  We are fairly ahead of the game today and may have some extra time to pack some fun stuff along tomorrow.  We ARE bringing enough taco supplies for over 1,000 tacos.  If we sell out of all of this stuff… I think the taco staff will need a raise.

We all look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, come celebrate our Nation’s Birthday, and if you stay late enough I will be riding back to town by bicycle…come ride with me…

CUMMING TOMORROW. THE MENU-ING

TOMORROW…WAIT…Tomorrow, Taco Lovers, will be our official kick off of BEING IN TWO PLACES AT ONE TIME. We will be serving at the Bombay Bicycle Club from 5 to 11, and we will also be (duh, of course) at the Cumming Tap from 3 until 10, or whenever you Taco Animals clean us out of goodies.  Which was pretty fast and furious the last two weeks (we are bringing more stuff this time, but I am almost certain that won’t make a difference).

CUMMING TAP MENU FOR TUESDAY:

  • Braised Pork
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Wasabi Brisket
  • Korean Chicken
  • Beef Cheek
  • Chorizo Verde
  • Whatever runs out first will be replaced with Potato Poblano

We may have one or two other “replacer” tacos flavors for when things start running out.

The Bombay menu includes some bitchin nachos, Thai Shrimp Ceviche, and a load of taco flavors including our new Seared Ahi Tuna w/Wasabi and spicy slaw topped with toasted sesame seeds. There will be a soup which will most likely be our Sopa Verde (it’s a green soup. go figure).

SO, you have two opportunities to get your mouths around our tacos tomorrow night.  Either choice is wise…

“It’s Taco Tuesday somewhere…”

TUESDAY TACOPOCALYPSE CUMMING TAP MENU

Taco Lovers!  It’s a beautiful day and looking even better for TACOPOCALYPSE TUESDAY at the CUMMING TAP.  It’s going to be a great big ball of awesome topped off with some good friends, cold drinks, and some of the best tacos in the…well, pretty much anywhere you go.  It’s the truth, no reason for us to be coy.

We have been working diligently on our new kitchen (Project Bullhorn) and have aquired some new equipment to make mass production of your favorite tacos much easier.  What does this mean for you, the taco lover?  It means no more running out of tacos early, it means no more “backup” tortillas (I will post a video of our new tortilla system, which I am very excited about), it means a more consistent experience for you.  I am really happy about this, you probably don’t know what it is like to literally lose sleep worrying about feeding people tacos.

OH, YOU ARE PROBABLY WANTING TO JUST SEE THE MENU INSTEAD OF READING MY RAMBLING ABOUT THINGS.

Menu For 5/22

  • Braised Pork
  • Wasabi Brisket
  • Vegan Chorizo
  • Bacon Chorizo

There you have it, the selections are legit.  You will love. Tomorrow at the Cumming Tap from 3 pm to 10pm!

Tuesdaypocalypse Menupocalypse-alypse!

My Dearest Taco Lovers,

I am currently writing this from our new digs, which is quite enjoyable indeed.  I think you are going to really enjoy this new spot when we get it opened up to the taco loving public.  I am really excited to be able to offer you Tacopocalypse 7 days a week. BUT THAT IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY, WE NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE MENU FOR THE CUMMING TAP TOMORROW.

Now you are probably saying to yourself, “self, something something something taco taco taco NEW PLACE taco taco something something burp?”  I understand what you are going through.  My thought pattern is similar, but different.  This new place (aka “Project Bullhorn) thing will be resolved and announced soon. Don’t worry, be happy.

(if you are wondering what is up with this video, the fish’s name is Taco.)

Menu Menu Menu Menu Menu

  • Braised Pork

  • Vegan Chorizo

  • Korean Chicken

  • THE RETURN OF THE FISH TACO. Grilled seasoned Tilapia topped with our Adobo Crema (not “Chipotle Mayo” BEN. grrr.) and Spicy Slaw.  It went over so well last week that we are doing it again. Maybe I will even get one this time.

  • There may be another flavor or two depending on how hard I feel like working. I will say that we have about 20 lbs of beef cheeks in house, and potato poblano is always a possibility.  We will see.

We will also have our customary fresh cilantro, onion, and jalapeno peppers.  We will also have our Red and our Green salsas. (We have been labeling then as “hot” and “Medium” at the Farmers Market, but people are still asking which one is hot. It’s funny.)

Tomorrow, 3-10, Cumming Tap, Cumming Iowa. Be there or (insert random threat).

Taco Lovers, Produce Lovers, all people who love the combination of Cleverley Farms and Tacopocalypse!  Tomorrow is a great day for you all!  Larry Cleverley and I will be hosting a ‘Mini-Market” pop-up thing in front of the Royal Mile on historic 4th street in Downtown Des Moines from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday.  You can get some great produce straight from your favorite farmer’s hands and the Tacopocalypse goodness you have grown to love (tacos AND Breakfast Things, AND our new Market Potatoes!), which will also include some of Larry’s amazing produce.  It’s going to be a real Champagne Jam!

Obligatory David Lee Roth Pic Means Business. Party Business.

Also, those of you who were wondering if we were still participating due to our exclusion from the wonderful Des Moines Register’s announcement.  We are definitely in, even though the Curmudgeon Formerly Known As The Datebook Diner chose to “overlook” us.

So…Join Tacopocalypse and Cleverley Farms for some wild Saturday fun.  10-2, 4th Street. DSM

WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN THE FARMERS MARKET!

The Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market is one of the largest in the nation, and being included last year was quite a treat (among many other things) “it was the best of times, it was also the almost best of times.” The process of applying and waiting for approval for this year’s market is finally over and TACOPOCALYPSE will be back for another 26 weeks of Saturday Morning Funtimes starting May 5th!  Back with the Breakfast Things and all the tacos you have grown to expect along with some new additions like Poblano/Potato tacos and a few other more breakfast related ingredients.  It’s going to be a blast, and we are still on the same corner (although a few feet away from where we were last year).

It's time to get ready for this!

ARE YOU READY FOR THE MADNESS?  ARE YOU READY TO PUT DOWN THE BURRITOS AND PAPUSAS LONG ENOUGH TO GET WITH THE TACOPOCALYPSE PROGRAM?  BECAUSE IF YOU HAVEN’T THEN YOU ARE MISSING OUT/IN THE DARK/JUST PLAIN WRONG!  GET RIGHT WITH TACOS!

CAPS-LOCKEDLY YOURS,

TACO PASTORIUS!
