TacoTapapocalypse Tuesday Menu!

Good day, Taco Likers/Lovers.  There were rainbows in the sky, birds (and ground squirrels) chirping, and a slightly cloud-shielded morning sun hanging in the sky as your trusty taco making person awoke from his race recovery (yes, I feel old.  taking two days to recover…sheesh) slumber.  It was all an inspiring experience, and in an instant during that wonderful waking a thought popped into existence.  “Why don’t I make a new taco for tonight, something that I haven’t tried (as a taco) before.”  Not a bad idea for sure.  Hmmm…. I have drawn from Indian, Asian, Latin cuisines but never from one of my most professionally practiced um…. provisions… ITALIAN.  Yes, an Italian inspired taco is on the menu for tonight.  Let’s discuss further.

TacoTapalypse Menu For 9/27/11

  • Italian Pork Taco.  This is the new guy, Niman Ranch shoulder slow cooked with fennel, rosemary, tomato, and a few other spices and served with a pickled red onion relish.  You will like.

  • Chorizo Verde.  It’s Green and Mean, ground Niman Ranch pork with a plethora of edible/legal green herbs and spices.  Serrano, Poblano, Cilantro, Spinach….great garden flavor.

  • Vegan Chorizo.  All the chorizo flavor without all the animal products.  Loved by Veg and Omni’s.

  • Pork Shoulder.  The Tacopocalypse “enhanced” version of the traditional Carnitas.  The original Tacopocalypse taco is still the favorite.

Of course we have all the other usual accompaniments such as slaw, a couple salsas, some fresh chopped veggies and the like.

Come join us for Tacos and Ice Cold $2.50 pints of New Belgium Fat Tire tonight at the Cumming Tap!  5pm to ?????

Des Moines Has Voted: We’re #2! We’re #2!

Our Tacos are taking over Des Moines

I just received unconfirmed word from Twitter that the results of the DSM Metromix Ten Best Tacos Reader Voted On Contest Thing are finally in.  We here at the T’lypse have been not-so-closely monitoring the contest as it has unfolded and are all (one of us) shocked at the final outcome.  Tacopocalypse, in it’s less-than-year-old infancy has managed to secure a #2 spot right behind Des Moines “taco” staples Tasty Tacos.  As the little Tasty Taco mascot guy says on their packaging, “Nada es Imposible,’ and lil homeboy couldn’t be more correct.  What started as some food that was made for some guys at the end of a gravel bike ride is now currently, according to the Greater Des Moines Voting Public, the #2 taco in town.  Many have commented that we are in fact the number one in their mouths, stomachs, and hearts…we believe them.  I am fairly certain the persons that make up the 40% of the votes received by TT have3 never tasted one of our tacos.  But when it comes down to the real nitty gritty…

Des Moines voted Tacopocalypse the Number Two Taco in umm uh… Des Moines.

The Truth. (awesome image credit: @slakingfool)

Thank you, Taco Likers.  You are the reason we do what we do, and you clearly have an appreciation for what it is that we are doing for you.

One (Taco) Love,

The Taco Rapture Looms Near!

Yes, there is much talk from a few as-yet unreliable sources that the world will end this coming Saturday, May 21.  Whether or not this is true remains to be seen…and no one in the Tacopocalypse compound is holding their breath, because 1) We are taco powered skeptics 2) we have lots of prep to do in preparation for the Tacopocalypse 3) We would end up passing out from lack of oxygen, and possibly fall and get injured. Thats no way to run a rapture!

So, end of days or not, the tacos will still be flowing this Saturday at the Downtown Farmers Market. Look for us at 2nd &.Court Ave, on the southwest corner with our very good friends Cleverley Farms
